Broadmarsh Public Realm, Nottingham, UK

Michael Grubb Studio has been appointed by Nottingham City Council to deliver a Lighting Strategy and Detailed Designs for Broadmarsh – a new public realm development in the very heart of the city.

Nottingham City Council has ambitious plans to regenerate the south-side of the city, building on the recent and much acclaimed improvements at Nottingham Railway Station.

The Broadmarsh area is an important access point to the city from the south and its regeneration is seen as key to the success of the southside of the city. Broadmarsh area developments (which are now underway) include the creation of a new city centre college hub, new central library development and redevelopment of the Intu Broadmarsh shopping Centre to create entertainment complex.

These adjacent developments will be linked together by rationalising the existing road network, removing traffic from streets between the developments (Carrington St and Collin St) and creating high quality public spaces.
