Michael Grubb Studio is going back to where it all started in 2013, the Boiler Shop in Newcastle’s Stephenson Quarter.
The venue was used for InsideOut, a temporary installation designed to demonstrate the perceptions of space through light art. The project was nominated for a Lighting Design Award and became the backdrop to the Studio’s original website.
Steeped in history, the Boiler Shop played a pivotal role in the region’s industrial revolution heritage as the birthplace of Stephenson’s Rocket locomotive. Like most other buildings of this ilk, it’s now being given a new lease of life with a revolution of a different kind – arts and culture.
Michael Grubb Studio will be working with Newcastle based architects xsite.
