Michael Grubb Studio has been appointed by Balfour Beatty Living Places to provide strategy and lighting design services for Hereford High Town. The funding, from Herefordshire Council, will be used to redevelop streets and pedestrian areas in and around High Town.
The city of Hereford is not only a beautiful and picturesque location in its own right, but it is set amid some of the most stunning countryside anywhere in the country. Between the Black Mountains and the Malvern Hills on either side of Hereford and the River Wye snaking through the city, there are many stunning walks to be enjoyed with picture-postcard scenes all around you.
The city centre boasts many good shopping areas offering everything from the big high street names to smaller, more exclusive fashion boutiques and stylish European-style street cafes, not to mention an ever-popular livestock market. The market reflects the city’s status as an important agricultural centre for the county, which gives its name to the famous local ‘white face’ breed of beef cattle, which benefits from the quality of the local grass and is famed for the quality of its meat.
Designs are ongoing with works commencing in on site sometime during 2016.
