The Meadow, London, UK

The Meadow is an important pedestrian link which connects Elephant & Castle station to the centre of the mixed-use development in Elephant Park.  It forms part of the wider urban regeneration at Elephant & Castle and was developed for Lendlease in collaboration with B|D Landscape Architects.

Designed to capture the imagination of all ages, this bio-diverse scheme is brought to life through sculpture, natural play and places to rest.  It’s a meanwhile space that aims to educate and engage users on the importance of urban pollinators.  B|D Landscape Architects designed the pocket park to create a playful wildflower tapestry, with a life-size willow woven elephant and towering tulips.

At night, the space is transformed by glowing light installations that mark the entrance to the park.  Linear LED were placed into metal channels which were then recessed into routed channels within tilted wooden landforms created from site-reclaimed timber.
