Twickenham Stadium Gateway, London

New Gateway Entrances were designed for Twickenham Stadium by London-based architects Wilson Owens Owens with lighting design by Michael Grubb Studio. The new entrance gateways provide a welcoming entry point for rugby fans.

Twickenham Stadium, the Home of England Rugby, seats an impressive 82,000 spectators.  The largest dedicated rugby union venue in the world.  It’s a destination for fans from across the globe to experience the excitement of a match day, sample the history of a stadium tour and visit the superb World Rugby Museum.  Twickenham Studios is an extremely versatile venue allowing it to be used for other high profile events.  U2, R.E.M, Bon Jovi and The Rolling Stones have all performed in concert there in recent years

Two three-metre-high decorative gates each carry a verse of the hymn ‘Jerusalem.’  Zinc canopies overarch state-of-the-art turnstiles and access systems that improve the experience and flow for fans travelling into the stadium.  The architectural lighting was designed to be discrete, integrated within the canopy and activated to meet various operational requirements.  Above the canopy, LED lit lettering eloquently frames the prestigious stadium venue name  ‘Twickenham.’

The Twickenham Stadium Gateways now provides a unique focal point when fans arrive.  A recognisable starting point for their experience at the world’s largest dedicated rugby stadium.
