When castles, religious buildings and other historical and heritage sites need lighting, Michael Grubb Studio has an enviable reputation in delivering these projects.
Our work on heritage projects always begins with our development of a full understanding of the history and architectural hierarchy of the project. This appreciation of the past inspires a narrative and story which, in turn, influences the development of the lighting scheme. Our expert eye allows us to see the potential for creating drama and excitement through the lighting, while keeping the focus on the building’s heritage.
Michael Grubb Studio takes seriously our commitment to collegiate working. We respect the fabric of any building or structure, and pride ourselves on ensuring it is preserved for future generations. This requires close collaboration with our clients and relevant experts to ensure a project’s integrity.
Demonstrating this further, as the project progresses, we implement lighting demonstrations to help clients, stakeholders and design team members learn about the journey and understand our lighting proposals.
We also have a working knowledge of the approval process, having worked in partnership with organisations such as English Heritage to obtain necessary permissions. We also fully recognise the need to make heritage lighting projects as cost efficient as possible given the overheads that can exist on these properties and grounds. Our designs will always be mindful that running costs and future maintenance needs to be controlled and minimised.
