Seven Stories, National Centre for Children’s Books, UK.

We are delighted to announce that Michael Grubb Studio has been appointed as lighting design consultant for Seven Stories, the National Centre for Children’s Books, based in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Seven Stories celebrates children’s books, from how books are made, where they come from and how we can enjoy and share them. The Centre selects original artwork and manuscripts from the very first scribbles to finished books – they then use these to create innovative exhibitions and events. These include visiting authors, illustrators, creative workshops, talks, performances and much more.

The visitor experience is based over 7 floors and includes permanent and temporary exhibition spaces, as well as workstations, relaxation areas, café, shop and a dramatic attic space.

Michael Grubb Studio will be working with the in-house team alongside ADP Architecture (Interior Architects), Cube (M&E Engineers) and Turner & Townsend (Project Managers & QS). Designs are currently being developed with refurbishment works taking place late 2015.
