Tottenham Neighbourhood Restaurant

Michael Grubb Studio have been appointed to work in collaboration with Award-winning architecture and design practice Assemble on Chicken Town. Located within the old fire station on Tottenham Green. The community led project ethos is about getting young people to engage with food and think about what they are eating, how it’s made and where it comes from.

In Tottenham, almost one in four reception age children is overweight or obese. By the time they get to year six (at 10-11 years old), that figure has risen to more than one in three. – but it doesn’t have to be this way! Nor does working in one of these environments, where opportunities are often limited, conditions poor, with low pay. The project aims to serve young people and the rest of the local community better!

Removing the option of fast food will never happen, so the project aims to transform it by giving people the choice and making a change. The project also wants to show everyone what they can have if they think about food, how it’s made, and what it does to us. That’s what Chicken Town’s about. More magic. More taste. More knowledge. Because there’s more than one way to fry a chicken…

The project has already received a huge amount of press coverage, some of which you can read about here:
