Wembley Stadium Changing Rooms

We are now able to announce that Michael Grubb Studio prepared detailed designs for the new Wembley changing room lighting. Working in collaboration with architects WOO and the appointed contractor IHG, we provided a unique lighting scheme that merged practicality with desire to create a new design standard for changing facilities that would create a competitive edge for the performance of England football teams.

The design brief was developed by WOO following a number of detailed discussions and meetings with the England Performance Team. The main consideration of the brief was to provide a flexible changing space that primarily accommodates football matches, with two main changing rooms of 28 player and analyst spaces.

This project gave WOO the opportunity to re-evaluate the basic requirements of a dressing room environment, allowing the design team the chance to challenge many of the traditional conventions. The consultation process has tapped into the unrivalled skills and specialisms of the England Performance team and provided an opportunity to add value, enriching the project and providing a competitive edge to the England team.

The facilities were opened in February 2020 after a rapid three month build and in advance of the Carabao Cup final (which Manchester City won 2-1 against Aston Vila).

Further details and photos of the final lighting scheme will be available shortly.
